To install and update it, we keep the Cloudflare access key you create and your install's sign-in key, both encrypted. Our privacy policy says what each can do.

- Castio (us) installs and updates it. To do that, we keep the Cloudflare access key you create and your install's sign-in key, both encrypted. Our privacy policy says what each can do.
- Your install checks with us for updates once an hour, sends invitation and password-reset emails through our email provider, and sends us error reports, and performance data from about 1 in 10 requests and page loads. These reports can include things like IP addresses and sign-in links, but never meeting video or audio (privacy policy).

Cloudflare's network
Each participant connects through Cloudflare's global network. There's no meeting server for you or us to run.
Code you'll be able to read
Castio is going open source. The code goes public with the free self-install version, so anyone you trust can check what it does.

What a 10-person team costs in a year.
Zoom Pro is $169.92 a user a year, so $1,699.20 for 10 users. With Castio today, the same team pays about $209 a year in total: $149 a year for us to install it, with updates and support, plus about $60 a year to Cloudflare (about $5 a month in total, not per person: the team's meetings fit inside Cloudflare's 10,000 free meeting minutes a month, so it pays only Workers Paid). Castio is $0 per user. When the code is public, the free self-install version drops the $149. Cancel any time, and your install keeps running.

Is a free Zoom alternative good enough for client calls?
The audio and video run on Cloudflare RealtimeKit, across Cloudflare's network in 348 cities. Castio is the meeting software on top: your address, your brand, your hosts. See it first with a free branded demo.
What does Cloudflare charge?
Cloudflare bills you directly, at Cloudflare's price: $5 a month for the Workers Paid plan, and $0.002 a minute for each person in a call past the free minutes. Cloudflare includes 10,000 free meeting minutes a month, counted for each person in a call. A 10-person team holding five one-hour meetings a week, four people in each, uses about 5,200, so it pays only Workers Paid: about $5 a month in total. Recording every meeting brings it to about $17. Cloudflare's meeting service is free while it's in beta. After that, Cloudflare's published plan includes 10,000 free meeting minutes a month, which is what this example uses. Cloudflare sets these prices and can change them. The pricing page shows the arithmetic and the sources.
Is the code public?
Not yet. We publish it together with the free self-install version, and we'll name the licence then. Leave your email under Install it yourself and we'll tell you.
Can I get it for nothing today?
Not yet. Today you get Castio by having us install it, for $149 a year with updates and support. Cancel any time, and your install keeps running. The free self-install version comes when the code is public.
Who supports me?
If we install it, the people who built it, by email at hello@castio.app. If you install it yourself, direct support isn't included.
Who owns my data?
The account is yours. Castio runs in it, and your meeting records live there, not on our servers. Recordings are saved for 7 days by default; turn on one setting and they're kept in your own Cloudflare storage until you delete them.
What if I stop paying for the install?
The install-and-update service ends at the end of your paid year. Then updates and direct support end, and your install keeps running on the version it has, in your own Cloudflare account.
